The challenge for Illustration Friday this week is "Moon". It's an amazing, wonderful experience to look at the moon! I always have a litany of memories when I see it! The list is getting longer and the months seem to go by quicker! My first memory is of my Father telling me, "It's bigger than all the houses on our block". I remember going outside to look for it and I recall thinking, "If it is really that big.....How does it stay up there?...Nooooo way!". *FLASH* The window I am sitting next to is frosted and after I melt it with my breath, I see a full moon floating in the sky and it occurs to me that everyone throughout time has looked at the same moon. *FLASH* I am a teenager on a Saturday night and my boyfriend is pulling into the hot spot to "park".....where the moon shines over the lake and it reflects on the waves. *FLASH* I am watching a black and white TV screen and a man is taking a step onto the SURFACE of the moon! My reaction is....NOOOOO WAY!" *FLASH* I am laying on a blanket with my children looking at the summer sky. We are laughing about the "Man In The Moon". *FLASH* My daughter has my grandson on her shoulders. She is running through the yard his hands are stretched above his head as he tries to "catch the moon".
I could stay up all night listing memories but it is time for bed. The moon shines through the blinds as I fall asleep.
