It seems like only yesterday I was singing, "All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth". A lot of time has passed and my tune has changed. It has been October since I have been here. On October 20th I had surgery to have both knees replaced. I have literally been taking baby steps in this process they call recovery. I remember feeling resigned to the process and yet hopeful as they wheeled me into surgery. I honestly don't remember the first few days afterwards but my poor family does. I progressed to rehab and they started me walking the halls. It was a challenge to walk farther every time I got out of bed. After about ten days I was sent home. It was so good to get out of the hospital and to return home but I still couldn't do much. Thanks, fifty times over to my sister who has cared for me. I am now getting around the house...going up and down the stairs, even unloading the dishwasher, and trying to remember to ice my knees. You should see me scooting around the kitchen and hallway in my office chair. I'm going to physical therapy and I getting stronger everyday. I'm down to one cane in the house! Hooray! I hope I can get my driving privileges before the new year so I can at least get out of the house and back to work. I'm finally getting stronger and starting to get that creative itch again. Good thing because I am going to have to make most of my Christmas gifts this year.
Here is a great idea from my favorite two artists, "The Art Girlz". Be sure to see all of their wonderful new kits, supplies and ideas at their website.
The most wonderful gift this year is that all the kids and grandkids are coming home! I can't wait to kiss everyones cheeks and get caught up face to face. So you can see I have lots of countdowns going on at one time.
