When visiting my daughter earlier this summer she and I had lots of time to chat and enjoy hot summer days. Jenn has replaced her glasses with her Mason Jars. I think it is very cute and practical. She serves up a mean cup of ice cold water. It's hard to beat an ice cold glass of water when you are thirsty. I love the pickle cukes in it. Try it...it is really refreshing! When I was young my Grandmother always cut off the end of a cucumber and gave it to us to press to our overheated little foreheads, faces and wrists. As a child I thought that she made up the phrase, "Cool as a cucumber." If we begged her she would give us more cucumber slices to put on our eyelids. We would tumble on to our backs under the shade of her apple trees. There we would unwind for a bit...She knew how to tease us into a few minutes of rest. I can almost smell the cucumbers and hear the sound of the cicadas droning in the hot summer afternoon. What memories of summer do you have?
What do you mean, Loretta?

OK, so I was sitting there thinking, "how does she see through Mason jars and why??"
Never mind!
I love Mason jar drinking glasses as well as jam jar ones. Much sturdier. And cucumbers on the eyes was definitely a big beauty tip when I was young.
