"Thanksgiving" was the assignment for this week's Illustration Friday. I had huge plans for what I wanted to illustrate but life had other plans for me. Do you remember my dog, Rosie? I have written about how I received her for a birthday gift from Ang. You have seen the illustrations I have done of her. Friday I took her to the Vet.... I wasn't prepared to hear seriously ill she is. She has needed intensive care since then. Thank goodness today she made some progress. She isn't out of the woods yet so please send her your thoughts, prayers, energy and love. I believe that helps!
For Thanksgiving I had planned to go with Paul and Laura to spend the long weekend at Laura's parents. I was *very*very*very* excited and looking forward to spending the time with all of them. Like I said, this week life had different plans for me. As a result I've been giving thought about what I AM thankful for rather than dwell on what I am sad about.
I am thankful for my family. I don't even have the words to say how fortunate I am to have such wonderful children. (I do think they are the best people in the world!) They have all married people I love and I know love me. I am lucky that their families have become family (and that my family has, in turn, gotten larger). I am thankful for my family of friends. They have been there for me over and over. I am thankful that they have included me in their families. I am thankful for my brother and sister who have always been my balance. I am thankful for my community that I live and work in. I am thankful for the people who have stepped in and out of my life...and then back in again. They have given me insight. They have challenged me to grow and change. I am thankful that I have had the chance to have animals in my life. They have taught me about unconditional love. I am thankful for all of my family that has come before me. Because of them I have had a chance to stand in this world and experience this wonderful life.....Which brings me BACK to this week's Illustration Friday assignment. I am also thankful for the stars. I often look at them and feel so connected to everything and everyone past and present. "All of mankind has looked to the stars. To have this in common, how lucky we are." Happy Thanksgiving.
